S&P Immersive 2024-Invitation to Participate
Following on from the success of the Joint Security and Resilience Centre’s (JSaRC) Immersive Escape Room Experience in 2023, JSaRC is looking to collaborate with Industry to create a live immersive experience.

The immersive experience is an interactive demonstration of various technologies and solutions from the security sector. It aims to provide participants with a hands on and pressurised view of a security problem.
This year’s immersive experience will include one overarching scenario with the opportunity to undertake two different challenges in two different spaces, at the immersive.

For 2024, the immersive will have a central theme of Transport Security and aims to showcase additional themes, such as drones, artificial intelligence (AI) as well as the prevention & detection of violence to public service workers and public.

The Challenge
Based at a large fictional transport hub (train and underground station), participants will be alerted that there is a suspicious bag on one of the trains. They will then have the opportunity to work their way through a multi-layered terrorist incident as a team to:
  • Stop a drone, which is causing disruption during the multi-layered terrorist incident.
  • Ensure the safety of the public during the multi-layered terrorist incident.

How to get involved – the opportunity
JSaRC are seeking products and services that are market, or near market ready to solve security challenges. Please note, these products and services require to be highly interactive and will be used by a range of participants throughout the event.

JSaRC is looking to work with industry and academia who are interested in creating new and engaging content for the experience. This will likely include video content, which we would work with you to develop. It may also incorporate demonstration resources already used by participant companies.

Security and Policing attracts ministers, senior civil servants, and international delegations. This immersive experience is an incredible way to demonstrate how innovation and partnership connect to ensure a safe and prosperous future in the UK.

We are seeking applications from organisations that can contribute content and experience on numerous areas such as:

1. Counter Drone Technology:

The immersive will aim to highlight varying counter drone technology which could be used to detect, classify, and mitigate drones and unmanned aerial vehicles.

We are looking for hands on equipment or video content relating to the following:
I. Drone monitoring systems
II. Drone countermeasure equipment
III. Nets and net guns
IV. Cyber takeover systems
V. Other relevant drone technology / solutions

2. Transport CCTV Technology:

The immersive will aim to highlight varying Transport CCTV Infrastructure that both transport operators and police have available, to ensure that they can gain the best possible situational awareness of what is happening across a network, at any given time.

We are looking for hands on equipment or video content relating to the following:
I. Smart CCTV / Video Content Analysis
II. Mobile CCTV

3. Geolocation / Map Tracking Analysis

The immersive will aim to highlight varying geolocation / map tracking analysis technology available to work out the location of a suspect.

We are looking for hands on equipment or video content relating to the following:
I. Touch screen devices to allow participants to interact directly with the key information data.
II. 3D modelling or similar imagery to act as a replica of a region.
III. GPS tracking software for participants to examine while gathering evidence.
IV. Asset tracking for participants to examine while gathering evidence.

4. Crowd Simulation / Modelling

The immersive will aim to highlight varying crowd simulation / modelling technology to examine rail passenger flow in a train station or underground station.

We are looking for hands on equipment or video content relating to the following:
I. Crowd Simulation / Modelling Software
II. Artificial Intelligence Powered Crowd Counting Technology
III. Interactive Crowd Analytics
IV. Touch screen devices that allow participants to interact directly with the key information.

5. Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The immersive will aim to highlight the benefits of utilising AI in a train station or underground station.

We are looking for hands on equipment or video content relating to the following:
I. Technology which allows for monitoring of non-biometric characteristics to loosely identify and track persons in CCTV imagery.
II. Technology which detects unusual or suspicious behaviour and can alert security personnel.
III. Touch screen devices that allow participants to interact directly with the key information data.

6. Information Sharing

The immersive will aim to highlight how to overcome some of the challenges first responders often face when trying to access data or information across Police Forces or third-party organisations.

We are looking for hands on equipment or video content relating to the following:
I. Emergency connection systems with police systems for participants to use or listen to.
II. Data insight and analytics

7. Additional video content

The immersive will utilise technology to ensure that it provides a fully interactive experience.

We are looking for the following additional video content which will help bring the scenario to life:
I. Aerial images taken by drones of train lines in the UK or Europe.
II. High-definition videos of trains travelling across the rail networks in the UK and tubes travelling through the underground system.
III. Film content relating to aspects of the scenario to help support the immersive.
IV. Video content used during training sessions e.g. recorded live feed from a body camera; various situational scenarios.

Next Steps – How To Register Your Interest
Please complete this survey by 17:00 on Friday 15th December 2023.

Please utilise the 'save and continue later' feature if you are not prepared to complete this EOI in one sitting.

If you have multiple products/solutions that you would like to showcase in the immersive, please submit individual responses per product/solution.

JSaRC and policy colleagues will review the responses submitted by this deadline, and applicants will be informed of the outcome within four weeks, via nominated points of contact.
